What measures have you put in place to ensure customers and employees are safe?
We have stringent social distancing measures in place, and will be asking all team members and customers to adhere to them.
We have introduced a one-way system, and other yellow information signs and floor stickers
Each customer will be asked to take a pre-sanitised trolley to place their shopping in. This is to ensure the packing and payment process at the tills maintains safe social distancing. (Baskets are not available)
We are restricting the number of customers allowed in the garden centre at one time. You may be required to queue if that number is reached.
We are asking that only two people per household visit. Under 16’s are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times (one adult and one child per household)
We ask that you visit knowing what you want to buy. We are not open for browsing. You can find more information and the full guidance here.
What are your opening hours?
Our opening hours remain as normal 8:30 to 17:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 16:00 Sunday. On some days it may be necessary to stop admitting people before closing time, to allow time for people to get through the tills.
Is the Coffee Shop open?
No it is closed following government guidelines.
How long will I have to queue at the entrance?
Sometimes it may be necessary to queue for a short while before entering the Garden Centre. This is because we are restricting the number of customers to keep everyone social distanced. Most often the wait time is less than 15 minutes. In order to avoid a longer queue we advise that you visit during the week.
There may also be queues at the tills, as we only have two tills open (normally four). We will do our best to move you through as quickly as we can.
Are all products normally stocked available to purchase?
Yes, all our products are available.
What payment methods can I use?
We are not accepting cash. Card payments are fine, contactless (£45 limit) or Android/Apple Pay (£200 limit) is preferred.
We are accepting vouchers – both Perrywood and National Garden Gift Tokens.
Are the customer toilets open?
Our customer toilets are currently unavailable. This is because we are using them for employees so there are less using the staff room facilities in order to keep them safe. As our Coffee Shop is not open, we are not required to provide toilets.
Are you able to help carry items to my car?
Car carries will still be available if they can be done safely. Two person lifts of heavy items will not always be available. Please do not take items half way and then ask us to help.
Compost is available to purchase as normal, if you are not able to lift please ask for assistance and a member of the team will help.
Am I able to bring back unwanted or faulty goods?
At the moment we ask that you hang onto unwanted or faulty goods if you can, whilst we readjust to new ways of working. We will of course extend any warranties/guarantees as required. In time we will get a new system for bringing these back, which will allow us to process these efficiently and safely.
Are you offering a delivery service?
We will be operating our normal delivery service for bulky items, but delivery is likely to take longer than normal, and we may not be able to give you an estimated delivery date. Our garden furniture and BBQ delivery service will also continue.
Our local delivery service will not be resuming now we are reopen. We are sorry that we don’t have the facilities or the team in place to run this service. Running the garden centre in a different way to ensure social distancing is a big challenge by itself.
Do you guarantee plants purchased from Perrywood
Yes, we have a Perrywood Hardy Plant Guarantee, we guarantee the free replacement, or credit, of any container-grown, hardy plant that dies, providing it has received reasonable care, bears our garden centre labelling and is presented for examination with proof of purchase within one year. We cannot guarantee against damage due to severe weather conditions.
Do you sell and redeem gift vouchers?
Yes, we sell and redeem our own Perrywood Gift Vouchers as well as the HTA Gift Cards. (Paper National Garden Gift Vouchers are still redeemable and available on request). We are unable to accept Wyevale Gift Cards.
Do you have a loyalty scheme or a pensioner’s day?
No, because we like to offer all our customers the best prices rather than just for the select few. Everyone who visits can take advantage of our great value, high quality plants and products. As an independent garden centre, we are unable to continue with the Wyevale Garden Club Points Scheme. Please come in-store to find out the benefits of shopping at a family-run, independent garden centre.
How can I find out if you have a specific product in stock before I visit?
We ask that you email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your question (give as much detail as you can) and your telephone number. One of us will email or call you back when we can. Please be patient, as we are experiencing higher volume of enquiries than normal, and we are not able to get the information from the team on the shop floor as quickly as we can normally.
Do you offer a delivery service for bulky items?
Yes, we offer a local delivery service for bulky items purchased in-store. Please refer to our Local Delivery Map for delivery zones and prices. We can arrange national delivery for non-plant purchases. Some exceptions apply. Please ask for a quote before you make your purchase.
Do you allow dogs on site?
We welcome service/assistance dogs but our policy is to not allow other dogs into the centre.
Do you allow coaches to visit?
We currently do not have the facilities to accept coaches.
Do you have concessions and franchises?
No, we only sell plants and products which are sourced by us. We feel this gives us the edge over other centres as we can maintain high standards and offer value for money on all we sell.
Do you have a loyalty scheme or a pensioner's day?
No, because we like to offer all our customers the best prices rather than just for the select few. Everyone who visits can take advantage of our great value, high quality plants and products.
Do you allow any exceptions to the under 16s rule?
In general we can’t I’m afraid. As we are not an essential retailer (such as a supermarket) we are not making many exceptions. At quieter times in the week it may be possible, but there are not many of those at the moment.
Do you do click and collect or a drive thru?
No I’m afraid not. We have a compost and bark drive-thru at Perrywood Tiptree but NOT at Perrywood Sudbury. Please see their website for more details.
What don't you sell?
Here are some products we have been asked for recently that we don’t sell; hot tubs, sheds & fencing, railway sleepers, children’s garden play equipment (e.g. swings, trampolines) or play houses.
